Minnetonka Skippers Sports Roundup

Minnetonka teams bask under sunny skies on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Tuesday and Wednesday featured two of the most ideal back-to-back days of the spring sports season so far and sports teams from Minnetonka High School made the most of it with a full schedule of events.

Baseball: Skippers 6, Eden Prairie 2

Pitcher Alex Twenge struck out six batters in a complete-game victory as the Minnetonka baseball team won a battle for the top spot in the Lake Conference at Eden Prairie, 6-2, on Wednesday night.

David Dolan hit a home run for the Skippers in the victory that improved the team to 9-1 overall and 4-1 in the conference; Eden Prairie is now 4-2 in the Lake, with both losses coming to Minnetonka.

The Skippers host Wayzata at 6:30 p.m. Friday night.

Girls Lacrosse: Skippers 19, Royals 4

A 19-4 defeat of host Hopkins on Tuesday improved the Minnetonka girls lacrosse team to 6-1 on the year. 

Holly Korn led the team with 17 goals heading into the game, with Hilary duda and Abbey Brodeur recording 16 and 14 goals prior to the Hopkins game.

Minnetonka hosts Breck on Friday at 7 p.m.

Boys Lacrosse: Skippers 12, Hopkins 4

 The Minnetonka boys lacrosse team remained undefeated on the season at 7-0 with a 12-5 defeat of Hopkins on Tuesday.

Statistics from the game were not made available. The Skippers travel to Blake for a 7 p.m. game on Friday.

Softball: Hopkins 7, Skippers 3

The Minnetonka softball team lost 7-3 to visiting Hopkins on Tuesday to fall to 4-7 overall and 2-4 in the Lake.

Individual statistics were not available. The Skippers host Mankato West on Friday at 5 p.m.

Boys Golf: Skippers Hit The Links On Tuesday And Wednesday

The Minnetonka boys golf team finished fourth in the Nelson Invitational with a score of 311 on Tuesday, then fell to Eden Prairie, 298-324, in a Lake meet on Wednesday. Individual results were not available.

Boys Tennis: Skippers 5, South 2

The Minnetonka boys tennis team defeated Minneapolis South, 5-2, on Wednesday. Individual results were not available.

Results from a scheduled meet involving the Skippers girls golf team on Wednesday were not available.
