Minnetonka's Hillen Signs $1.4M Contract Extension With Capitals

The Holy Angels grad started playing for Washington in the 2012-13 season.

Minnetonka native Jack Hillen on Tuesday signed a two-year, $1.4 million contract extension with the Washington Capitals, according to NHL.com.

Hillen started with the Capitals in the 2012-13, playing 11 games beginning Jan. 19. Before joining Washington he played 55 games with the Nashville Predators in the 2011-12 season and played 175 games with the New York Islanders in the 2007-08, 2008-09, 2009-10 and 2010-11 seasons.

In high school, Hillen played for the Academy of the Holy Angels in Richfield, from which he graduated in 2004. The school’s boys hockey team won the state championship in 2002, finished third in the state tournament in 2003 and won the section title in 2002, 2003 and 2004.
