Ice Rinks Finally Set To Open at Noon on Saturday

Outdoor skating rinks with warming houses at 13 Minnetonka and Hopkins locations were set to open Dec. 17, but due to weather have been delayed to Jan. 14.

The city of Minnetonka reports that flooding of outdoor ice rinks is well underway and going well due to the cold temperatures that have finally arrived. The outdoor ice rinks are expected to be available for skating by noon on Saturday.

Skating rinks with warming houses are available for your enjoyment at seven Minnetonka park and six Hopkins park locations. Rinks had originally been set to open Saturday, Dec. 17 and remain open until Monday, Feb. 20. Call the weather hotline number at 952-939-8355 for conditions, closings and updates.

Warming houses and rinks are located in Minnetonka at Boulder Creek, Covington, Gro Tonka, McKenzie, Meadow and Spring Hill parks and at Gatewood and Glen Lake schools. Hopkins warming houses and rinks are located at Burnes, Central, Harley Hopkins, Interlachen, Oakes and Valley parks. Visit the Parks page for street addresses.

Minnetonka rinks are open Monday through Friday, 4:30 to 9 p.m. The rinks are open Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. Glen Lake, Gro Tonka, McKenzie and Meadow have extended hours on Saturday nights until 9 p.m.

Christmas Eve (12/24) Hours- 12–5 p.m.Christmas Day (12/25)- All sites closed.

Reservations

The Hopkins and Minnetonka Youth Hockey associations and adult broomball leagues have reserved various hockey rinks for organized practices Monday through Thursday after 6 p.m. A schedule is posted at each rink.
