Minnetonka Hockey: Repeat State Champs!

The Minnetonka girls hockey team made history as repeat Class AA state champions.

The Skippers did it again.

The top-seeded Minnetonka girls hockey team beat No. 2 Roseville in the State Class AA Championship game Saturday night. The first time in history for Class AA girls hockey, the team has won back-to-back state titles.

Minnetonka defender Holly Korn scored the first goal of the game during a power play with 3:24 left in the first period.

Diana Draayer, a forward, scored to make it a 2-0 lead with 5:51 remaining in the third period. Both Korn and Draayer are sophomores.

To top it off, junior Laura Bowman scored an empty net goal at the horn and finished off Roseville 3-0.

Skipper goalie Sydney Rossman played an excellent game with 24 saves.

Sydney Baldwin gets credit for two assists.

Five Minnetonka players made the All-Tournament team: Amy Petersen, Laura Bowman, Sidney Morin, Sydney Baldwin and Sydney Rossman.

Also named to the team were: Alexis Joyce, Cassie Alexander and Dani Sadek of Lakeville North; Adelle Murphy, Hanna Brodt, Kate Flug and Lee Stecklein of Roseville.
