Minnetonka Gymnasts Compete At State Today

Minnetonka's team scored a school record to win the Section 6AA Championship.

The Minnetonka High School gymnastics team is competing at the state level Friday, something they have not done for 35 years. 

A strong showing at the Section 6AA Championships earned the Skippers gymnastics team their first state tournament team appearance since back-to-back state appearances in 1976 and 1977.

Minnetonka's team scored a 144.6 (school record) and won the Section 6AA Championship.

The gymnastics team will compete on Friday, Feb. 24 at the University of Minnesota, Sports Pavilion in the team competition. On Saturday, Feb. 25, Allie Ryan (12), Morgan Engel (10) and Shawna Burroughs (12) will complete in the individual state championships.
