Minnetonka Girls Headed for State Soccer Tournament

The Skippers won the 6AA tournament with a 1-0 victory over Hopkins.

The Skippers are headed to the girls’ soccer state tournament following a hard-fought victory over Hopkins on Tuesday.

Minnetonka entered the Section 6AA tournament seeded in first place following a 14-2-2 record. The Skippers only losses during the regular season were to Edina and Eden Prairie.

The girls mowed through the first two teams in the tournament. They knocked off No. 8 Robbinsdale 5-0 and sent No. 5 St. Louis Park home with a 6-0 victory.

No. 3 Hopkins proved a tougher proposition, but the Skippers edged them out 1-0

The state tournament begins Oct. 23. Brackets haven’t been set yet.
