Minnetonka Girls Basketball Heads To Section Finals
After beating Minneapolis South, the Skippers will face Hopkins on Wednesday with a trip to state on the line.
Five Minnetonka girls basketball players scored in double digits, and despite a 38-point performance by Minneapolis South’s Sattoria Rule the Skippers earned an 81-78 victory over the Tigers in Saturday’s Section 6AAAA semifinal at Osseo High School.
Minnetonka advanced to the section championship against Hopkins, which will be played at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Osseo.
South’s Rule was dominant with her 38-point performance, and teammate Diamond Lane chipped in 26 of her own. But the Tigers (26-2) got just 14 points from the rest of the team and couldn’t overpower the Skippers’ depth.

It was South’s second loss of the season, and its first since a 50-41 defeat against Eden Prairie on Feb. 12.
Minnetonka (21-6) has now won three straight since losing two in a row to Edina and Eden Prairie on Feb 18 and 22.

Ali McArthur led the way for the Skippers, scoring 26 points on the night. Elizabeth Zilverberg scored 15, Joanna Hedstrom and Cassidy Smith each had 13 points and Katy Winge scored 10 points.
