Minnetonka Boys Hockey Season Ends

The Skippers lost 5-1 to Benilde-St. Margaret's in the Section 6AA championship game.

It was a disappointing end to a great season for the boys hockey team.

The Skippers lost 5-1 to Benilde-St. Margaret's in the Section 6AA championship game at Mariucci Arena on Wednesday night, putting an end to their state tournament hopes.

Minnetonka finished the season with a 22-3 record, Lake Conference Co-Champions, and earned the No. 1 seed in the Section 6AA Tournament.

The lone Minnetonka goal came from forward Sam Rothstein in the first period, cutting down the BSM lead to 2-1.

On the Benilde side, Jake O'Borsky scored two goals. The other three were made by Zack Hale, Tyler Ellegard and Christian Horn.

Final shots on goal: BSM 31, Minnetonka 19.

It was an emotional night for the BSM Red Knights, as –a player injured earlier this season–joined his team on the ice for celebration to chants of his name from the crowd.
