Minnetonka Boys Hockey Blanks Century

Skippers improve to 14-4-1 with non-conference win over visiting Rochester squad.

There was little in the way of drama at the Pagel Ice Arena on Thursday night as the Minnetonka boys hockey team blanked visiting Rochester Century, 10-0, in a non-conference matchup.

Forward Thomas Schutt gave the Skippers a lead they would not relinquish just 82 seconds into the game as the hosts went on to win by their second-largest margin of the season behind an 11-0 defeat of Chaska in mid-December.

Minnetonka forward Max Coatta recorded the hat trick to lead his team with three goals, while fellow forward Connor Ryan scored twice; Schutt and fellow forwards Shane Gachne, Erik Baskin, Phil Katopodis and Jared Ridge all lit the lamp once apiece.

Coach Brian Urick's club returns to Lake Conference play with a trip to Hopkins at 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon. Minnetonka shut out the Royals, 9-0, in the first meeting between the teams on Jan. 20.
