Karl's Couch Graces Minnetonka Varsity Volleyball Game
The couch is for student fans and will be at every home game of the season.
If you went to the home game on Tuesday, you might have seen a surprising sight: a couch on the court floor.
The loveseat is called Karl's Couch, named after Varsity Volleyball Coach Karl Katzenberger. A sign posted above the couch says: "Reserved For Our #1 Fans."
In an email to Patch, Katzenberger said that the booster club came up with the idea as a way to encourage more students to attend the home games.

Any elementary, middle, or high school student attending the game, Katzenberger explained, can participate in a drawing to sit on the couch. The winners will also be able to eat and drink for free.
Karl's Couch will be at every home game for the rest of the season.

On Tuesday, the tenth ranked Minnetonka volleyball team faced the sixth ranked Shakopee team. It was close, but Minnetonka came out the winner.
Said Katzenberger, "Minnetonka won in 5 sets so—superstitiously speaking—the couch will stay around at least until we lose."
Minnetonka will face Eden Prairie at Eden Prairie High School on Saturday, Sept. 1.
