Game of The Week: Skippers Face Shakopee

Undefeated Minnetonka meets Shakopee in a key non-conference girl's soccer match at home Tuesday.

MINNETONKA PATCH GAME OF THE WEEK

Soccer
Minnetonka (3-0, 0-0 Lake Conference) vs. Shakopee (3-1, 0-0 Missota Conference)

CHEAT SHEET
SITE: Minnetonka High School
TIME: 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6
LAST MEETING: Minnetonka won 1-0 on the road last season.

ON THE LINE
The Skippers face the defending Missota Conference champions. They are an attacking team, while Shakopee is more of a defensive-minded squad. Minnetonka head coach Jeff Hopkins and Shakopee head man Mike Ceola live three houses away from each other, so the winner will likely have neighborhood bragging rights. A win could move Minnetonka into the top ten in the state rankings

PLAYERS TO WATCH
Ellie Crowell - Minnetonka midfielder
The junior has five of the nine Skipper assists and has at least one point in each of their three games this season.

Nikkole Adams – Shakopee goalie
The senior goalkeeper has helped lead a Saber defense that has allowed only five goals all season. However, Shakopee head coach Mike Ceola said four of those were on mistakes. She has split goalie duties with Amy Menke, but will start against the Skippers.

SKIPPERS WIN IF...
They can get continued strong play from goalies Lizzie Crist and Brittany Plombon, who have allowed just one goal in three games.

SABERS WIN IF...
They can keep putting shots on goal. The Sabers scored seven goals in their last game versus Bloomington Kennedy and is averaging three goals per contest. Senior attacker Gracie Vaughan has six goals this season.
