Eagan Wins Gopher Classic With 2-1 Victory at Veterans Field

The Gopher Classic may have wrapped up at Minnetonka High School’s Veterans Field, but no west metro teams made it to the final day of play.

Eagan won the tournament with a 2-1 victory over runner-up West St. Paul on Tuesday afternoon. Edina and Chaska were the only west metro teams to make it into the championship rounds. Both lost early Monday—Chaska in a 6-2 loss to Yankton, SD, and Edina in a 9-0, five-inning loss to Eagan.

The Gopher Classic is the largest American Legion tournament in the United States. Ninety teams played at 15 Twin Cities sites between July 12 and July 16.
