Basketball Tip Off Classic Takes Place Saturday at Lindbergh Center

Minnetonka and Hopkins' girls and boys teams will play in the ninth annual event.

Minnetonka and Hopkins high schools are set to rev up the girls’ basketball season Saturday with the Ninth-Annual Breakdown Sports USA Tip Off Classic at the Lindbergh Center.

The invitational will have 15 games with teams from Minnesota, Iowa and Kansas. There will be:

  • 68 Division I prospects
  • 175 college prospects
  • 49 top-30 players
  • 4 defending state champions
  • 21 preseason top-15 teams
  • 18 preseason top-10 teams
  • 12 preseason top-5 teams
  • 4 preseason No. 1 teams.

Game start times run from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Minnetonka girls play Roseville at 5:15 p.m. in the East Gym. Hopkins girls play Olathe Northwest (KS) at 7:30 p.m. on the Main Court.

The Royals boys’ team is also playing in one of the event’s two boys games—a 6 p.m. matchup against Centennial on the Main Court. They’ll also play against Tartan in the boys’ Tip Off Classic the following Saturday at Minnetonka High School.

The Skippers boys' team will play in the other boys' matchup of the night against Holy Angels (Richfield) at 7 p.m. in the East Gym.

Tip Off Classic admission is $10 for adults and $8 for students and is good for all girls games. Admission will be the same for the boys’ Tip Off Classic on Dec. 8.
