VIDEO: St. Paul Winter Carnival Royalty Visits Scenic Heights
First graders at Scenic Heights Elementary were "knighted" by royalty on Friday.
The king and queen of the St. Paul Winter Carnival "knighted" first graders at on Friday.
All first graders attended an assembly to learn the lore behind the annual carnival. Mary Beth Rissmann's first grade class received a special treat and were knighted into the royal family. Mrs. Rissmann is the mother of the West Wind Princess, Bridget Rissmann.
As part of their community outreach program, the St. Paul Winter Carnival royalty go to schools to meet children, answer questions and tell them the story behind the event. About 15 Winter Carnival royalty participants came to Scenic Heights dressed in costume.
