By statute, the Board holds a reorganizational meeting at its first Board meeting each January, during which the Board elects officers, sets Board salaries and the meeting schedule, and designates official District depositories, external auditors, legal counsel, and official newspaper and radio of record.

At the meeting on Jan. 3, former Board Chair Karen Walkowski nominated Wagner to lead the Board, noting her two years of service as Vice Chair and her experience in setting Board agendas and assisting with Board leadership.
