“Taylor is an outstanding student. She epitomizes a strong work ethic and a desire for learning,” said Leah Dasovich, Taylor’s ninth grade Honors English teacher and head girls basketball coach.

In addition to being an AP scholar and on the A honor roll every quarter during her four years at Minnetonka High School, Fredrickson has also excelled in sports. She was named captain of both the Varsity Volleyball and Varsity Basketball teams for the 2012-13 seasons.

“At a school the size of Minnetonka, this is no small feat," said Dasovich. "Taylor is the ideal captain: positive, motivational and intense in her pursuit of excellence.”

Fredrickson has participated in the high school orchestra for four years and has been selected as a First Mate Senior Leader, a highly selective group of seniors chosen to work with and be a mentor for incoming freshmen.

Nate Janssen

Nate Janssen is an AP Scholar and a member of the National Honor Society. He is a group leader for the “It’s Your Choice” youth teaching program. As a freshman,  Janssen played the alto sax in the high school band. He has developed a passion for photography and drafting.

Janssen is a three-sport varsity athlete for three years (cross country, Nordic skiing and track and field) and a two-sport captain (cross country and Nordic skiing).

“Nate is a role mode, a leader by example with his consistent hard work ethic, combined with his positive attitude,” said Jeff Renlund, head boys  cross country coach and assistant track and field coach.

Established in 1988, the Triple A Award recognizes and rewards high school seniors from across the state for their achievements in the classroom, the arts and athletics. To qualify for the award, students must have a “B” or better grade point average and participate in League-sponsored athletic and fine arts activities. League member schools are invited to nominate two students—a boy and a girl—for the award. Award recipients are selected through a multi-level process involving the League’s administrative regions and a committee of athletic, fine arts and educational leaders.

The 2013 Triple A winners will be announced at the Triple A banquet which will be held in conjunction with the Boys' State Basketball Tournament in March.
