The convertibles will line up on Lake Street as well. They will line up on the opposite side of the floats (non-lake side). Arrive at the staging area by 3:15 p.m. if you are participating in the parade. Visit Minnetonka High School's website to register a float.

No candy will be given out under police order. Safety is of great importance, and due to the enthusiasm of parade spectators, the police remind everyone to stay on the sidewalks and away from the floats.

Minnetonka High School has also chosen Sept. 28 as the “Tackle Cancer Night.” The Tackle Cancer Project is an ideas from the Minnesota Football Coaches Association. Thanks to their efforts, 125 high school football teams across the state are hosting a Tackle Cancer night which raises money for the Randy Shaver Cancer Research & Community Fund.

Of the monies collected, 90 percent of them will go directly to cancer research and treatment. To date, the Foundation has raised over $4 million dollars to support the local cancer community.

The Minnetonka Football team created a short video to help publicize the event. Head Football Coach Dave Nelson is a cancer survivor himself. He found out he had prostate cancer last year and had it successfully removed. The video is a powerful reminder of the number of people who know someone who has been affected by cancer.

Saturday, Sept. 29

• 10 a.m. to noon Alumni Awards and Brunch at Minnetonka High School

Two Distinguished Alumni Awards will be given.
