Minnetonka High Hires Boys' Swim Coach

This past season, Ben Whitcomb was an assistant boys' coach at Shakopee High School, where he teaches mathematics.

Minnetonka High School recently hired Ben Whitcomb as the new head coach for the boys' swim and dive team. 

Whitcomb has been an assistant coach at Homestead High School (2003-2009) in Wisconsin for four seasons with the boys program and five seasons with the girls program. As an assistant coach at Homestead High School, the boys' and girls' teams were perennial top finishers at the state meet each of the nine seasons Whitcomb was part of their coaching staff. 

This past season, Whitcomb was an assistant boys' coach at Shakopee High School, where he teaches mathematics.

As a high school swimmer, Whitcomb swam for Homestead High School and was part of four consecutive state champion teams from 1998-2001 and was captain of the 2001 state championship team. He was also a YMCA National Championship and Junior National Relay qualifier as a high school swimmer.   

“We are very excited to bring in a coach with the experiences and pedigree of Coach Whitcomb,” said Activities Director Ted Schultz. “His history as a swimmer and coach, combined with his incredible passion, knowledge and organization make him a great fit for Minnetonka High School.”

In 2011 the MHS Boys' Swim and Dive team won the Class AA State Championship, as well as the True Team State Championship. The Minnetonka Boys' Swim and Dive team has a long history of success.
