Minnetonka Gymnasts Prepare For State Tourney
For the first time in history, Minnetonka's gymnastics team earns a place at state.
A strong showing at the Section 6AA Championships earned the Skippers gymnastics team their first state tournament team appearance since back-to-back state appearances 1976 and 1977. This is the first time the team has made it to state in 35 years.
Minnetonka's team scored a 144.6 (school record) and won the Section 6AA Championship.
The gymnastics team will compete on Feb. 24 at the University of Minnesota, Sports Pavilion in the team competition. On Feb. 25, Allie Ryan (12), Morgan Engel (10) and Shawna Burroughs (12) will complete in the individual state championships.
