Minnetonka Football Team Moving Up to New Class
The move will take place starting in the 2012 season.
The Minnetonka football team will likely be moving up a class beginning in 2012 thanks to an approved Minnesota State High School League vote on Thursday.
The MSHSL board of directors approved a move to add a seventh football class effective in the 2012 season, according to the MSHSL website.
The move means football will have six 11-man football divisions listed as Class 1A-6A and a 9-man class.

The schools with the 32 largest enrollments will make up Class 6A. Minnetonka High School’s enrollment is the third largest in the state at 2,750. Lake Conference rivals Wayzata and Eden Prairie top the list.
It should be noted that while the change is very likely, it is not set in stone—Minnetonka could also opt down to 5A instead of up to 6A.
