Hopkins Legislative Action Coalition Seeks New Members

The LAC helps the school district advocate for educated-related legislation.

Editor’s Note: The following announcement comes from Hopkins Public Schools.

The Hopkins Legislative Action Coalition (LAC) is currently seeking new members. This grassroots group assists Hopkins Public Schools with education-related legislation by developing, proposing and advocating for legislative positions.

The LAC meets twice a month on Fridays at 11 a.m. Some of the activities the group works on include:

  • Developing positions and setting priorities for the Coalition advocacy efforts.
  • Communicating positions and priorities to local legislators and soliciting support.
  • Tracking legislation and alerting members when action is needed.

Community members who wish to join should be willing to commit to the Coalition for one year. Qualified individuals should have communication and organization skills, an interest in the legislative process and grassroots advocacy, the ability to work well with others, and a passion for Hopkins Public Schools.

If interested, please contact Jolene Goldade for more information about the LAC. More information about is also available at this link.

About the LAC:

The purpose of Hopkins Public Schools' Legislative Action Coalition is to assist the Hopkins School Board in advocacy for education-related legislation. The LAC Steering Committee coordinates these advocacy efforts throughout the Hopkins School District by developing, proposing, and advocating for legislative positions designed to advance the cause of good schools in Hopkins and Minnesota. The Legislative Action Coalition and the LAC Steering Committee exist through Hopkins School Board policy and their activities are subject to Hopkins School Board approval.
