Stacey Lijewski is an Environmentalist at Hennepin County Department of Environmental Services. For nine years she has been implementing the Wetland Conservation Act, a law passed in 1991 to protect and maintain Minnesota’s wetlands. She works with businesses, organizations, cities and landowners to minimize the impact that development projects have wetlands. She writes restoration orders to restore or mitigate impacts on wetlands in cases where violations have occurred. She will facilitate our watershed game.
Through the NEMO Watershed Game, the participant learns what a watershed is, how it works, and how Local Government Units work together to provide environmental protection to our resources including ponds, wetlands, streams, lakes and rivers. This Interactive learning tool demonstrates the impacts that land use decisions have on natural resources and educates individuals about best management practices (BMPs) that are used to achieve clean water.
Welcome to members and all interested citizens.
