Curtains Rise For ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ in November

The musical tells the story of an innocent floral shop employee who is the caretaker of a plant that thrives on blood and flesh, preferring the human kind.

Hopkins High School’s theatre program, Royal Productions, will present “Little Shop of Horrors” as its fall musical. Directed by Natalie Foster, “Little Shop of Horrors” is a comedy-horror rock musical with an underground cult following.

The musical tells the story of an innocent floral shop employee who is the caretaker of a plant that thrives on blood and flesh, preferring the human kind.  The plan grows into an unmanageable monster with the goal of world domination.

Performances are scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 21, Friday Nov. 22, and Saturday, Nov. 23 at 7 p.m. An additional matinee is scheduled for Nov. 23 at 2 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults and $6 for students. Tickets are available at the door and at www.hhstheatre.org. This play may not be suitable for children younger than eight years old.

About Little Shop of Horrors: 

The musical played in London in the early 1980s and again 2006. The show ran on Broadway for 372 performances, has been off-Broadway, and was seen all over the country during the 2004 National Tour. Little Shop of Horrors has also been performed extensively by regional theaters, community theaters, and high schools across the United States. This production involves over 50 students involved in all aspects of theatre.
