'101 Dalmations' Audition Dates Set

All six Minnetonka elementary schools will present a fully mounted production of '101 Dalmatians' complete with sets, lights, costumes and sound.

Auditions have been set for the Minnetonka School District elementary school musicals: 101 Dalmatians. Auditions are Oct. 4 and 6 at 7 p.m. on the big stage. All district fourth and fifth grade students are eligible to try out for the show.

This new theatre opportunity is part of the district’s goal to elevate fine arts programming for its elementary students.  All six Minnetonka elementary schools will present a fully mounted production of 101 Dalmatians complete with sets, lights, costumes and sound.  The shows will be performed in February and March.

“Each individual school will have one week on the stage at Excelsior Elementary for dress rehearsals and their performance,” said Associate Director Trent Boyum.

Students will practice for about eight weeks prior to the show.  Six individual directors and music teachers will work with the students to keep the productions professional and polished. Auditions have been scheduled early so families can plan busy schedules around rehearsals and performances.

“It’s a huge undertaking, staging 360 aspiring performers across six shows, but well worth the effort,” said Boyum. “Students and families are very excited about this new theatre opportunity.”
