Selcer Files Candidacy for Representative in House District 48A

This year marked the end of Yvonne Selcer's 8-year tenure on the Hopkins School Board.

filed for candidacy Tuesday for representative in House District 48A. Selcer said she is dismayed by the gridlock at the legislature.

“Throughout my career, I have demonstrated an ability to responsibly resolve issues with people holding conflicting viewpoints," she said. "This is a skill badly needed by our state government.”

Selcer, a strong advocate for , took the light rail from Mall of America to downtown Minneapolis to file for office Tuesday.

"We had a great opportunity this session at the legislature to leverage state dollars with federal dollars for a 9-to-1 return on investment," Selcer said. "Unfortunately, my opponent was not a champion for this legislation and the project did not move forward. If I am elected, I will be a stronger voice for light rail to the Southwest area."

Selcer and her husband Chuck have two children. Selcer, who has lived in the district for 25 years, was DFL endorsed this spring. She is running after a career in business and education. This year marked the end of her 8-year tenure on the Hopkins School Board.
