Reception for New City Manager

Geralyn Barone began her new role on June 1. A welcome reception is planned for Monday, June 25.

At its Monday, April 30, meeting, the Minnetonka City Council officially hired Geralyn Barone as the new city manager for the city of Minnetonka. Geralyn has worked for the city since 1994. As assistant city manager and director of administrative services, Barone oversaw human resources and labor relations, information technology, communications, the city clerk’s office and risk management. She participated in city-wide budgeting and capital planning, is responsible for the city’s performance management program, and served as staff liaison to the park board.

Barone has a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Minnesota and a master’s degree in public affairs from the Humphrey School at the University of Minnesota.

“The city of Minnetonka is fortunate to have a very capable and qualified person to step into the city manager position,” said Mayor Schneider. “Geralyn has proven time and time again that she has the leadership capabilities and commitment to maintain the city’s excellent culture, as well as the city’s goal of providing quality services at great value to our citizens.”

The public is invited to meet Geralyn at a welcome reception Monday, June 25, from 4:30–6 p.m. in the dining room.
