My name is Dan Martin.

I am currently seeking a Council Seat B for the City of Minnetonka.

I have no prior experience on the Council, however, I am a retired Met Council employee whose work was in the Transportation Division at Metro Transit. A car accident in January 2008, that confined me to a wheelchair now, as a quadriplegic, forced me into early retirement. Believing I am still useful as a whole

person and not an object to stare at, my attention has turned again to government as a place to serve the public once more.

I have attended Minnetonka Council meetings before, and I've lived in Minnetonka since 1981, that it has become my desire to represent the residents of Minnetonka after speaking with the present Mayor, Terry Schneider, and a few of the Council members, that believed in me, I could do the job, and well, as someone else in a wheelchair did before.

My education, other than, "the school of hard knocks", is a college of Public Speaking and other ministerial duties of 3 years after serving our country in the United States Air Force Military Police in the Vietnam War.

When "push comes to shove", as in military situations, I have observed that people tend to look out for one another and work together. I hope to lead as an example to my fellow Council members, and the residents as well, a fiscally disciplined life, for which such a position as a Councilman is elected for, on the taxpayer's behalf.

I am 58 and feel like I have a lot of life left in me, even though physical problems do hinder me somewhat as a quadriplegic, but will devote much of that energy into serving the residents of Minnetonka.

My only child, a daughter, has married last year, and successfully operates her own business and has thanked me more than just a few times, for living my life in front of her as a great example of discipline and perseverance and a positive outlook on life. That's what I bring to the table of City Council.

I would be so honored to have your vote in the upcoming Primary on August 13, and in the General Election on November 5th, should I be victorious in the Primary.

Sincere thanks and I pray for Almighty God's blessings on my beloved City of Minnetonka and it's current and future residents.
