Incumbent David Hann in Senate District 48 was the lone Republican voted in by local voters. He narrowly defeated Laurie McKendry.
"We came close," McKendry wrote early Wednesday on Facebook. "We were within 3 percent and that is an incredible race against a 10-year incumbent."

Redistricting has changed representation at the state-level for some Minnetonka voters. Senate District 33, which covers Lake Minnetonka communities, no longer covers any portion of Minnetonka. Instead, a small section of Minnetonka will now vote with Edina for Senate District 49 and the House District 49B seat.
