LIVE VIDEO: House to Vote on Voter Photo ID

Tonight, the Minnesota House debates and votes on the controversial constitutional amendment.

At 5 p.m. today, the Minnesota House will vote on whether a constitutional amendment that would require voters to show photo IDs on Election Day should be a November ballot question.

The measure has picked up Republican support, with proponents saying it would cut down on voter fraud. However, many Democratic opponents to the bill have said it is a solution in search of a problem and could disenfranchise some voters.

If the measure passes the House, it would next need to pass the Senate to get onto November's ballot as a question for Minnesota voters. Unlike most bills, proposed constitutional amendments do not require Gov. Mark Dayton's signature if approved by the whole legislature.
