Our first program of the year will be with Dane Smith, President of Growth and Justice,  speaking about Voter ID and its effect on voters, and the rest of us. Growth and Justice is part of Our Vote Our Future, a coalition formed to educate and inform the public about the costs to obtain the proper information to obtain a Photo ID. The cost of getting a birth certificate (Certified Copy), and the time involved to do so, for example. Or the impossibility of getting it if you were born in another state, where in some towns these records were not kept, for another example.  Or the possibility that same day registration and voting may not survive; or about what groups are most impacted by this Amendment.

Dane will also talk about how antithetical Voter ID is to racial equality in education outcomes, in employment and income and wealth.

This program is free and open to the public. For more information, please contact LWV Minnetonka-Eden Prairie-Hopkins at www.lwvmeph.org.
