Acomb Dominates Minnetonka At Large, Seat B Primary

The incumbent councilwoman will be running against second-place finisher Brian Grogan in the November general election.

The incumbent councilwoman won 628 votes—65.9 percent of the votes cast.
Optimum Financial owner Brian Grogan came in second with 280 votes that accounted for 29.38 percent of the vote. 

He said he’s not surprised the primary came down to a two-person race. He’s been involved in the community and has name recognition from campaigns in 2008 and 2010.

“Frankly, that I’m through to the final election, I feel really good about that,” he said.

He an Acomb will run against each other in the general election Nov. 5.

The remaining two candidates— retired Met Council employee Dan Martin and self-employed contractor Rick Ranta—ran a distant third and fourth, respectively. Martin got 26 votes and Ranta got 19.

The election saw few voters show up at the polls. Just 953 votes were tallied—about 3 percent of the 35,364 voters registered at 7 a.m. Tuesday.
