2011 MnDOT Projects Announced: Three in Minnetonka
This year's 258 state highway construction projects include at least three projects that will impact Minnetonka roads.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation today announced a nearly $900 million transportation construction program for 2011 that state officials say will increase safety, improve mobility, expand capacity and preserve infrastructure statewide.
“Minnesota’s transportation system is a vital part of the state’s infrastructure and is essential for a strong and vibrant state economy,” Governor Mark Dayton said in a written press release. “These projects will support thousands of jobs in Minnesota."
“MnDOT is focused on improving our roads and bridges and maximizing the capacity of our multimodal transportation system to give the traveling public more options and improve Minnesotans’ quality of life,” Tom Sorel, MnDOT Commissioner, said in the release.

This year’s 258 state highway construction plan consists of at least three projects that will impact Minnetonka roads, including:
- On Highway 7 at Baker Road and at Lake Street, MnDOT will be replacing the lighting systems in May and July. The projected project cost is $125,000 and will have a “medium” impact on users of that road.
- Bridge replacement at the Highway 169 at the Bren Road interchange. For a full Patch story on this project, click .
- Along Interstate 494 between Highway 5 in Eden Prairie and Interstate 394 in Minnetonka, MnDOT will be landscaping between September 2009 and June 2012. The projected project cost is $537,135 and will have a “low” on users of that road.
