2011 City Council Election Roundup

Four spots are up for grabs in Minnetonka.

After two candidates pulled their names back at the final minute, the 2011 Minnetonka City Council election field is set.

There are four spots on the ballot this year—all four Ward seats. However, in only two of the four Ward races, is the incumbent facing a challenger.

Ward 1: Bob Ellingson (incumbent) and Peggy Kvam

Ward 2: Tony Wagner (incumbent)

Ward 3: Brad Wiersum (incumbent)

Ward 4: James Hiller (incumbent) and Jason Iannone

No primary is required in the city this fall due to the number of candidates who filed for the four ward council positions. All the candidates will go directly on the November 8 General Election ballot.

Absentee ballots for the General Election will be available on September 17.

The Minnetonka City Council is made up of the , and six council members, four of whom are elected by ward and two who are elected at large. Each member serves a four-year term.  The Mayor and two at-large council seats will be up for reelection in November 2013.
