Woman Suspected of Shoplifting Pulls Knife on Workers

After fleeing from Macy's police arrested Annie Marie Hudson on mall property.

Police say a New Brighton woman pulled a knife on Macy’s workers after she was suspected of shoplifting.

Annie Marie Hudson, 48, was charged in Hennepin County Court with terroristic threats, a felony. A conviction of the charge carries a maximum of 5 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

On March 8, officers responded to a report of an assault at Macy’s in Minnetonka. Two of Macy’s loss prevention staff had attempted to detain Hudson after they suspected she had been shoplifting.

Hudson allegedly pulled out a 5 inch knife and threatened the employees with it by swinging the knife in front of them in a horizontal slashing motion. She told them she wasn’t going with them and then fled the scene.

Officers got a description of Hudson and arrested her on mall property. Hudson had an existing felony warrant. Police say they recovered a knife from Hudson’s jacket pocket.
