Woman Steals Co-Worker's Credit Card, Goes on Shopping Spree

Police also respond to a fight at Minnetonka High School.

Feb. 11

9:19 p.m.: Minnetonka Police responded to a report of domestic assault in progress at a residence in the 5500 block of Eden Prairie Road in Minnetonka. Upon arrival officers spoke with a man who said he had been assaulted by his live-in girlfriend, 31. The man had a bloody nose. In the criminal complaint filed against the woman, prosecutors say a 15-year old boy and a 12-year-old boy were witnesses to a verbal fight which escalated into the alleged assault. The defendant has been convicted of two domestic assault related offenses in the past. She is now in Hennepin County Sherriff’s custody and charged with felony domestic assault, which carries a maximum of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Feb. 14

1:29 a.m.: a man, 56, from Minnetonka, was arrested at his home in the 9800 block of Cedar Lake Road, for felony DWI. This is this individual’s seventh alcohol-related traffic offense since 1991.

8:25 a.m.: Minnetonka Police were called to for a report of ‘threats.’ According to Janet Swiecichowski, spokesperson for Minnetonka schools, “This was a student-to-student threat of physical harm. Normally, this type of threat would not require police involvement; however, their presence in this situation was used to prevent any escalation.”

Feb. 15

10:05 p.m.: a man, 40, from Wayzata, was arrested at County Road 101 and Central Avenue, for 3rd degree DWI, a gross misdemeanor. In October 2010, this same individual was convicted of 4th degree DWI, a misdemeanor, and he paid a $253 fine.

Feb. 16

A woman, employed by PGI Companies, has been charged with four counts of credit card fraud for using a company credit card to purchase personal items. A criminal complaint filed by the Hennepin County Attorney on Feb. 16, alleges that the 40-year-old woman from Maplewood, used a credit card authorized only for the purchase of diesel fuel for three trucks within the Holiday Gas Station fleet, to purchase instead unleaded fuel, groceries and gift cards for herself at various Holiday Station Stores around the Twin Cities. The maximum penalty for these crimes carries a combined total of 20 years in prison and $40,000 in fines.

The Hennepin County Attorney charged a 50-year-old St. Paul woman for felony credit card fraud, claiming she stole her coworker’s credit card and bought herself numerous electronics with it. On Aug. 10, 2010 Minnetonka Police took a report of a stolen credit card from a woman who worked at 12600 Whitewater Drive. She claimed that someone had stolen her credit card from her wallet when she left her purse unattended at her desk while she was in a meeting. Upon discovering her card missing, the woman checked with her credit card company who told her the card had been used four times within the day at stores including the . She allegedly purchased a Sony Playstation 3 from the Target and also stole an Ipod Touch from the store. The criminal complaint charges that the defendant then pawned the items for cash. When apprehended the woman told police that she had many bills to pay and that she knew what she did was wrong.  

9:15 a.m.: Minnetonka Police were called to on a report of theft.

5:00 p.m.: a man, 55, from Richfield, was arrested at the , for felony property crimes. This is this individual’s 13th theft-related crime charge since 1989.

8:38 p.m.: a man, 32, from Spring Park, was arrested at the cosmetics store, for felony shoplifting. This is the tenth theft-related crime this individual has been charged with since 1997.

10:05 p.m.: Minnetonka Police responded to the parking lot of , for a report of a stolen automobile.

Feb. 17

4:21 a.m.: Minnetonka Police responded to a burglary call in the 14500 block of Woodhill Terrace.

9:36 a.m.: Minnetonka Police responded to a report of a fight at Hopkins High School.

7:23 p.m.:  woman, 49, from Minneapolis, was arrested at Excelsior Boulevard and Hilltop Terrace, for 2nd degree DWI, a gross misdemeanor. This is the third time in the past year that this individual has been arrested for driving under the influence.

Feb. 18

The Hennepin County Attorney has charged three individuals with three counts each of felony theft for allegedly stealing or attempting to steal property and credit cards from 5 different locations in and around Minnetonka on October 18, 2010. Items stolen include a GPS system and an Ipod as well as a credit card which were fraudulently used at ’s , and . The defendants, a 24-year-old Ramsey man, an 18-year-old Beroun woman and a 29-year-old Anoka man, each face a combined total of 16 years in prison and $20,000 fine.

11:29 a.m.: Minnetonka Police responded to a report of robbery at the Ridgedale branch. For a full report on that incident, click .

5:13 p.m.: Minnetonka Police responded to an assault call at . According to police, an 11-year-old boy called to report being assaulted while on a school bus. 

7:01 p.m.: woman, 37, from Stewart, was arrested at Highway 7 and Tonkawood Road, for driving without insurance, a gross misdemeanor.

Feb. 19

12:05 a.m.: a man, 19, from Minneapolis, was arrested on eastbound Interstate 394 and Louisiana Avenue, for driving without a license, a misdemeanor.

Feb. 20

5:25 p.m.: a man, 54, was arrested at his residence in the 4500 block of Highland Road in Minnetonka, for misdemeanor domestic assault.

Feb. 21

10:28 p.m.: a man, 50, from Minnetonka, was arrested one house down from his own residence in the 4700 block of Clear Spring Road for 2nd degree assault, a felony. This is this individual’s second assault charge.
