A two-vehicle accident yielded only minor injuries when one car rolled over and traffic got backed up on northbound I-494 on the Plymouth/Minnetonka border during rush hour on Wednesday evening.
The accident near the I-394 ramps on I-494 involved several different local law enforcement agencies to close off all the lanes of I-494 northbound in order to clean up the accident and assess damages.
"One car ran into the other one," said Plymouth Police Sgt. Brian Beniek. "The one who ran into the other, the driver didn't know traffic was slowing and rear-ended the vehicle ahead of it."
Only two cars were involved and three people, said Lt. Eric Roeske with the State Patrol.
The accident did end with one vehicle being rolled. No one was transported to a medical center or hospital.
The accident was called in at about 5:50 p.m., said Beniek.
Plymouth and Minnetonka emergency personnel were called in as well as the State Patrol. The extra help was needed to divert traffic while the scene was cleared, Roeske said.
Traffic was starting to clear up about an hour after the incident was called in.
