Tonka Teen A Passenger In Car Involved In Fatal Crash
A 65-year-old Fairmont man died in the crash near Mankato.
A Minnetonka teen was a passenger in a car involved in a fatal crash Saturday near Mankato.
Sean H. Tyree, 19, of Minnetonka was one of four teens in a Toyota Prius that was heading south on Highway 15, about 25 miles southwest of Mankato, just before 11 a.m. when it crossed the center line and hit a Ford Escape, according to the State Patrol.
The driver of the SUV, Gary R. Fenrich, 65, of Fairmont, was killed. Jean A. Fenrich, 59, was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center to be treated for injuries.
The identity of the juvenile driver of the Prius has not been released.
The three passengers in the Prius were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. In addition to Tyree, Daniel N. Smith of Minneapolis and Julian J. Gould of Edina, both 16, were riding in the car.
The State Patrol does not believe alcohol to be a factor.
