Student Jumped From Moving Bus, in Stable Condition

An 18-year-old girl from Carver leapt from the bus as it passed through Minnetonka.

An 18-year-old girl is in stable condition after jumping out of a moving school bus Wednesday morning in Minnetonka.

At 8:30 a.m., the student ran to the back door and jumped out while the bus was traveling eastbound on Highway 7 near . The bus was transporting special needs students from Carver to New Hope.

The teen, who attends school in Carver, was despondent and agitated, according to Minnetonka Police Captain Scott Boerboom. She suffered head injuries and was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center, where she is in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.

The incident stalled highway traffic for about a half-hour and backed up the morning commute near the stoplight at Vine Hill Road.
