Radio Shack Robbed, Suspects Arrested

INCIDENTS IN DETAIL

The third of three suspects in the robbery of the Radio Shack in Westwind Plaza has been arrested. According to Minnetonka Police, on January 8, just before noon, three men entered that Radio Shack and threatened the people inside- reportedly telling them to “get down.” The three men then allegedly stole merchandise and fled the scene. No weapons were displayed during the robbery. This third suspect is a 28-year-old man from St. Paul. He was arrested by Minnetonka Police last week for ‘strong armed robbery,’ a felony, in this case.  This man has previously been charged with three separate counts of first-degree aggravated robbery. Aggravated robbery is robbery committed with a dangerous weapon.

On March 4 at 6:07 p.m., a 37-year-old woman from St. Bonifacius, was cited for leaving an 18-month old child in her running car outside the  at Highway 7 and CR-101.

In the early morning hours of March 7, Minnetonka Police arrested two individuals at separate area residences- both for ‘aggravated robbery’- a felony. The first individual, a 21-year-old man, was arrested at about 3 a.m. at an address in 1000 block of Medicine Lake Road in Plymouth. The second individual, a 19-year-old man, was arrested in the 3600 block of Urbandale Lane in Plymouth. According to Minnetonka Police this was an isolated incident between individuals who knew one another.

Last week, the Hennepin County Attorney charged a 20-year-old Eden Prairie man with felony possession of a controlled substance- a charge which could carry up to five years in jail. Court papers alleged that on Christmas Day 2010, near the intersection of Excelsior Boulevard and Baker Road, the suspect nearly collided with a Minnetonka police cruiser when he failed to stop at a red light. Police pulled him over and smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle. Police searched him and found 14 Xanax pills, for which the man admitted he did not have a prescription. He told police he had purchased them earlier in the day for $20. 

OTHER INCIDENTS 

March 1

6:59 a.m.: Minnetonka police responded to an address in the 3900 block of County Road 101. A resident reported having $125 cash stolen.

1:49 p.m.: Police responded to a call for criminal sexual misconduct in the 5000 block of Clear Springs Drive. No charges were submitted on the case.

March 2

12:42 a.m.: Minnetonka Police responded to the in the 2800 block of Hopkins Crossroad. At the scene, a juvenile male was cited for stealing candy.

In the two o’clock hour, Minnetonka Police responded to for reports of drug activity and a fight. Neither case resulted in an arrest. Minnetonka Schools did not have comment on either incident.

March 4

3:55 a.m.: a man, 21, was arrested at his residence in the 3500 block of Green Ridge Road for domestic assault.

March 6

5:46 p.m.: a man, 52, from Minnetonka, was arrested near the intersection of County Road 101 and Creek View Trail, for DWI and for hit and run/property damage. More information has not been released.
