Search Ends For Armed Bank Robbery Suspect in Minnetonka

A bank robbery occurred at 10:28 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 22, at Wings Financial Credit Union.

UPDATE: 2.45 p.m. Friday

Minnetonka Police responded an armed bank robbery at Wings Financial Credit Union, near Cedar Lake Road and Hopkins Crossroad, on Friday morning.

The bank robbery occurred at 10:28 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 22, at 11110 Greenbrier Road in Minnetonka. 

The search for the suspect ended around lunchtime on Friday. It’s believed the suspect left the area, according to the city of Minnetonka. The robbery is under investigation by the Minnetonka Police Department and the FBI.

A lone black male entered the bank and brandished a handgun and demanded money from the bank tellers. An undisclosed amount of money was obtained by the bank robber before he fled the bank on foot.  

A thorough search of the area was conducted by Minnetonka Police, along with assistance from Plymouth Police, Hopkins Police, the Minnesota State Patrol, and the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Department. The robbery suspect was not located.

No injuries were sustained to Wings Financial employees or responding officers.  Anyone with information regarding the bank robbery is asked to contact the Minnetonka Police Department at 952-939-8500 or the Minneapolis FBI at 763-569-8000.

According to Police Clips, the suspect was wearing a blue hoodie, a black scarf across his face, and gray shoes.
