Police Say Man Tried To Open Kay Jewelers Account in False Name

The Warroad man has been charged with two counts of felony fraud.

A 32-year-old Warroad man has been charged with fraud after attempting to open an account at Kay Jewelers in someone else's name.

Detphakhanh Bouphasavvanh has been charged with two counts of felony fraud.

On March 30, Minnetonka Police were dispatched to Kay Jewelers in Minnetonka on a report that a man was trying to obtain credit with identification that had been reported stolen.

Bouphasavvanh allegedly filled out the paper work in another man's name, whose identification had been reported stolen. Police say he originally told police he was the other man, until he found out the ID's owner was currently on the phone with police. Police found a wallet with the other man's credit card, social security card and checks.
