Mall officials questioned the validity of receipts from Kay Jewelers in the amounts of $83,000 and $108,000 in order to get free promotional wristbands.

Police say a Minnetonka man and his mom fraudulently received almost $40,000 in Nickelodeon Universe unlimited ride wristbands and tried to sell them on Ebay and Craigslist.

During the holiday shopping season, the Mall of America gave away two wristbands (each valued at $29.99) for every $250 purchased at the mall.

Mall officials questioned the validity of two receipts offered by the pair from Kay Jewelers in the amounts of $83,000 and $108,000. They were given 1,528 wristbands which were posted using online sales sites, according to Bloomington Police.
