Minnetonka Police report a series of thefts from vehicles parked in an underground garage at a Minnetonka housing complex.

Thousands of dollars worth of electronics were stolen from residents of Minnetonka's Waterstone Place Apartments last week-- that's according to Minnetonka Police.

At 7:37 a.m. on Feb. 23, police received a call reporting a burglary at the complex, which is located near the intersection of Highway 169 and Minnetonka Boulevard. When they arrived, officers noticed multiple vehicles, parked in the building's underground garage, that had been vandalized. In total six cars were broken into- items were stolen from four of those six vehicles.

Among the items stolen were two mobile navigation systems, a laptop, 130 compact discs and a pair of designer sunglasses. Cash was also taken. The value of the stolen goods was estimated at just under $2,500.

According to Minnetonka Police reports, in five of the six thefts, a window had been “visibly broken with a flat edge tool [like] a screw driver." The result of those forced entries was $2100 worth of property damage to the vehicles.

Minnetonka Police called in the Hennepin County crime lab to process the scene. Crime lab Deputy Nathan Wasgatt said he collected evidence including one fingerprint, one "fabric print-- possibly from a glove” and a brown towel found outside one of the vehicles.
