Police Blotter: Burglary & DWI

DWIs continue to have a heavy presence in the blotter.

All information taken from the Crime Activity Report.

Last week the Minnetonka Fire Department duty crew responded to a natural gas leak, two electrical problems, nine medicals, two lift assists, three smoke scares and three false alarms. One callback of on-call firefighters was initiated.

Also, Minnetonka Police officers responded to 553 calls for service, initiated 339 traffic stops, made 27 arrests and issued 155 citations for various traffic violations. Some of the more severe offenses were as follows;


May 10

12:22 a.m.: a 23 year old female from Minneapolis, was arrested at Wayzata Boulevard and Cheshire Parkway for having possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia in a motor vehicle. This woman was previously charged with abandoning a vehicle on public property without consent.

8:23 a.m.: Minnetonka Police were dispatched to 10700 Cedar Lake Road (a Hopkins School District Building) for a reported assault.

11:46 a.m.: a man, 34, from Elk River, was arrested at Cartway Lane and Plymouth Road for driving with a suspended license. This individual was charged with a DUI in 1996 and and 1998.

12:15 p.m.: a woman, 18, from Minneapolis, was arrested at 14600 Minnetonka Boulevard () for check forgery, a felony.

2:17 p.m.: a 76 year old man from Golden Valley was cited at 12601 Ridgedale Drive () for unauthorized use of a handicap permit.

2:46 p.m.: Minnetonka Police were dispatched to the 9600 block of Ann Lane for a reported burglary.

May 11

2:30 p.m.: a man, 27, from Roberts, Wisc. was arrested from an apartment building on the 5100 block of Boarshead Road for domestic assault, a misdemeanor. This gentleman has previously been charged in Minnesota for underage drinking, felony property damage, felony 1st degree burglary, and two accounts of 2nd degree assault, also felonies.

9:07 p.m.: Minnetonka Police were dispatched to the 14800 block of Crown Drive for a reported burglary.

May 12

7:07 p.m.: a man, 57, from Minnetonka, was arrested at Minnetonka Boulevard and Therese Street for traffic offense: DAC-IPS, a gross misdemeanor. This is when someone is caught driving after their license has been cancelled because it was determined that their having a license is inimical to public safety. This man was previously charged with a DWI in 2008; and two 2nd degree DWIs in 2009 and 2010.

7:08 p.m.: Minnetonka Police were dispatched to 12401 Wayzata Boulevard () for a reported assault.

9:32 p.m.: Minnetonka Police responded to reported DWI on the 1500 block of Wayzata Boulevard. A man, 39, from Illinois, was shortly thereafter arrested for 4th degree DWI, a misdemeanor, and DWI test refusal, a gross misdemeanor.

May 13

1:33 p.m.: Minnetonka Police were dispatched to 13201 Ridgedale Drive (Target) for a reported DWI. A woman, 39, from Minnetonka, was then arrested for 2nd degree DWI, a gross misdemeanor. This lady was previously charged in 2006 with 3rd degree DWI - controlled substance.

May 14

11:25 p.m.: Minnetonka Police responded to a reported DWI at Hopkins Crossroad and Hwy 7. At 11:40 p.m. a woman, 42, from Minnetonka, was arrested at Hwy 7 and Shady Oak Road for 4th degree DWI, a misdemeanor.

May 15

3:42 a.m.: a woman, 23, from Hopkins was arrested at 16023 Minnetonka Boulevard () for 3rd degree DWI, a gross misdemeanor. This individual was charged with her a DWI in 2008.

10:31 a.m.: a woman, 30, from Deephaven, was arrested at Essex and Ridgedale Drive for driving while under the influence, a misdemeanor.
