Minnetonka Police: Take Note, We're Watching

The Minnetonka Police Department will conduct high visibility enforcement details throughout the summer, starting in May.

Minnetonka Police are hitting the streets and they want you to notice.

Starting next week, the Minnetonka Police Department is one of 14 Hennepin County law enforcement agencies that will conduct high visibility enforcement details throughout the summer.

According to city officials, studies have proven that visible traffic enforcement lowers the number of crashes and neighborhood crime while raising public awareness about traffic safety.

As a group, these law enforcement agencies have have worked together to identify specific local traffic patterns and crime data within their communities that may benefit from an increased police presence.

This initiative marks the first time officers in Hennepin County have worked together on a regional, county-wide effort to target community-driven enforcement activities.

The new multi-agency traffic enforcement group includes police departments from Bloomington, Corcoran, Crystal, Edina, Golden Valley, Hopkins, Maple Grove, Medina, Minneapolis, Minnetonka, Plymouth, Richfield and Robbinsdale, as well as the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota State Patrol.

The first of the monthly events is scheduled for Minneapolis on Friday, May 6.
