Bjerke requested a ride and asked to grab something first from inside the vehicle, according to the complaint. After retrieving a laptop bag, police say he gave officers permission to look inside. A small .22 caliber handgun was found inside, according to police. While searching the vehicle, police found a small quantity, less than 3 grams, of methamphetamine.

According to the complaint, Bjerke admitted the meth belonged to him and that he had picked up the gun for his friend who was in jail.
