Thaddeus Antonio Brown faces two felony charges in the April 2 incident.

A Minneapolis man has been charged with violating a no-contact order and threatening to kill a Minnetonka woman if she called police.

Thaddeus Antonio Brown, 22, is charged with two felonies: violation of a domestic abuse no-contact order and making terroristic threats, each of which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Brown remains in custody on a $75,000 bond. He is also being held on outstanding warrants charging him with unrelated instances of domestic assault and violating no-contact orders. An omnibus hearing in his case is scheduled April 13 in Hennepin County District Court.

According to the criminal complaint, police were called to Oak Ridge Road and Sandra Lane just after 11 p.m. on April 2 after someone reported a violation of a no-contact order.

New Hope police detectives, in the area investigating an unrelated case, recognized Brown and the woman to whom he was talking, who had a domestic abuse no-contact order that prohibits Brown from having any contact with her.

When officers approached Brown, he began to walk away quickly, but he was apprehended, according to Stock’s account.

Police spoke to the woman, who confirmed that Brown had violated the no-contact order. She told police that when she tried to call 911, Brown grabbed her phone, disconnected the call and told her, “If you call 911, I will kill your [expletive] before the police get here.”

Brown then grabbed the victim’s two cell phones, her bus pass and $26 in cash, the complaint says.

When police searched Brown after his arrest, they found $26 in cash and two cell phones, one of which showed a 911 call placed less than a half-hour earlier and subsequently disconnected.

Brown’s criminal history includes convictions for domestic assault in 2011 and violating a domestic abuse no-contact order earlier this year.
