Funeral Escort Injured in Crash During Procession for Rami Cooks

A 66-year-old man—who was helping lead the funeral procession for Rami Cooks, one of the victims of Thursday's Minneapolis workplace shooting—was seriously injured Sunday in St. Louis Park when he crashed his motorcycle into a truck.

Kent Edward Stahel, of St. Paul, was turning left onto Minnetonka Boulevard from Kentucky Avenue when he slammed into a truck that was already in the intersection. Stahel had red and blue lights flashing, according to a police report. He was alert after the accident, according to a witness, but was bleeding profusely and taken to the Hennepin County Medical Center.

Update Monday at 1 p.m.: Kent Stahel is currently in satisfactory condition, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

The driver of the truck, 31-year-old Juan Sanchez Ramirez, of St. Louis Park, was treated on-scene and released. He was also cited for not having a driver's license.

The procession was for Cooks, 62, of Minnetonka. Cooks, along with four others, was shot and killed at Accent Signage Systems on Thursday by 36-year-old Andrew Engeldinger, who had been fired earlier that day. Engeldinger, who had reportedly been dealing with mental illness, then shot himself.

Cooks' service was at Bet Shalom Congregation in Minnetonka.
