Endangerment Charge Dismissed for Mom Who Left 6 yo Alone to Go Drink

Jillian Rae Neimeyer pleaded guilty Thursday to drunken driving.

A Minnetonka woman who left her 6-year-old alone all night so she could go out drinking pleaded guilty to drunken driving Thursday and had a gross misdemeanor child-endangerment charge dismissed, the Star Tribune reported.

A Hennepin County District Court sentenced 26-year-old Jillian Rae Neimeyer to 30 days in the workhouse—but stayed the sentence for two years.

On Dec. 1 at about 8 a.m., Minnetonka Police were called to Hunters Ridge Apartments to investigate a case of child neglect. They met a woman who said that a 6-year-old boy had come to her apartment that morning claiming that "mommy was gone."

At about 8:35 a.m., Neimeyer drove into the apartment complex lot, according to police. Police say she smelled like alcohol and that she eventually admitted to leaving her son home alone from 12:35 a.m. to 8:35 a.m. while she was drinking alcohol at a friend's house.

Neimeyer was taken to jail where she agreed to a breath test, which came back at a .08 percent at 9:25 a.m. The boy was taken to the St. Joseph’s Home for Children in Minneapolis.
