70 Dangerous Items Taken From People at Suburban Courts

After installing at three Hennepin County suburban court locations on April 23, including in Minnetonka, about 70 items were taken so far from people entering the courts.

In the first week of weapons screening at Brookdale, Southdale and , over 3,000 people passed through screening checkpoints. The 70 items removed from people included knives, box cutters, sharp items, nail clippers and mace.  

The Sheriff’s Office had urged the added safety measure due to violent incidents and threats that have occurred statewide and nationwide in courthouses.
